Introducing the Wool Gathering Chair

I’m thrilled to introduce the
Wool Gathering Slipper Chairs.

One-of-a-kind interior pieces,
in a series of four.

Trained as a clothing designer, I love creating interior pieces that make you feel as good as you do when you put on a perfectly cut jacket. Juxtaposing tailoring with wildness; using exposed seams and selvage edges — each piece celebrates the intersection between the things we love to wear and things that inspire our living spaces.

The term ‘wool-gathering’ implies a kind of daydreaming — and what better place to while away the hours than in this rich seat of luxurious and cozy comfort?

A seat of rich, deep wool staple in shades of ivory and chocolate — plush, textural, and 100% natural.

The wildness of the shearling is juxtaposed by the tailored and pieced Levi’s Red Tab denim at the sides and the back.

Exposed seams, selvage edge stripe, and a mix of washes add dimension and detail that celebrate the upcycled sensibilities of the design. Selvage edge details; felled seams and reversed sides of the denim are used to create a tailored side and back.

Upholstered by master Luis in his San Francisco shop, these chairs are a product of design & handwork that is slow & purposeful. A furniture piece that is enduring; a design that breathes new life into upcycled materials and vintage slipper chairs, circa 1968.

I’m proud to support local farms in creating sustainable designs that give back to Mother Earth & fuel our local community.

I work closely with Luis with whom I have a very collaborative sense. Luis appreciates the one-of-a-kind quality of my pieces. He lets me camp out in his studio (I have a special spot where I leave his key after I lock up, now that is trust!) pinning pieces into place as I see them working best. The mix of washes creates depth; the felled seams create interesting details; and then there is that iconic selvage stripe, which is probably my favorite detail. The selvage is a ‘rarified’ detail--Not many pairs of Levi’s that I find, are made using this rich accent. When I do open the leg to deconstruct the pair, seeing that beautiful, rich red stripe is a ‘eureka’ moment. Luis then takes my designs and builds an enduring piece of furniture with integrity and meticulous details. He always understands, and appreciates, the small gestures, and his kindness and skill is instilled in every piece. I am so grateful for our partnership.
