Interior Finishes Can Make All the Difference

I’m thrilled to see the final details come to life on a recent Interior project I had the opportunity to work on in partnership with Habitat for Humanity, Greater San Francisco.

This six-story, multi family condominium development in Redwood City will soon be home to twenty lucky families. With that in mind, we wanted to create an inspired, modern yet calming space nestled in this city block.
We employed a robin’s egg blue to lighten the urban, industrial feel of the entry way, which beautifully complemented the concrete floors and block wall. We wrapped the stairs in a blue natural rubber mat flooring and neutral walls. Leaving the stairwell, the homeowners emerge to a punctuation of color when they arrive to their home’s floor with exterior doors that are a celebration of modernism and create a sense of place. Each floor’s four doors are matching yet each floor’s color is unique—no getting off the elevator or emerging from the stairs to the wrong home.

In calming contrast, the homes’ interiors are serenely muted tones, featuring light wood-effect LVP flooring, flecked quartz counters and white cabinets; with nickel hardware throughout. Large windows allow you to see out to the views of the bustling city below, yet the quiet space didn’t reveal the pace outside

Bringing an inspired and holistic design approach to Affordable Homeownership is one way, I believe, we shift the narrative of NIMBY to YIMBY. Beautiful, inspired homes with enduring finishes are exactly the type of homes that anyone and everyone would feel lucky to own or to neighbor.

Design boards move to real-life, 3d. I love witnessing that process
