Birthdays

Sailing around the sun, yet again.

Keep close to Nature’s heart... and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean.
— John Muir

I love birthdays. Morning wishes, handmade cards, baked goods, parcels in craft paper, and time spent with those I love most (the greatest gift).

This year, I had the added treat of a hike to one of my favorite cliffs, perched over the Pacific. From the parking lot at Rodeo Beach, we climbed up & up to find the remains of a WWII bunker upon which we rolled out our yoga mats & were treated to a most inspired class, taught by Elise Collins, one of my favorite yogi’s.

We were suspended in the fog, which held the warm air like a blanket that kept us from getting even the slightest bit cold. The distant strains of fog horns & the intermittent pinging of the bell from the Point Bonita light house created an idyllic sound bath. Throw in our picnic feast afterward of champagne, Ecuadorian chocolates, and loads of cakes—it was a stellar birthday celebration bar-none.

Grateful to take off, yet again, on a spin around the sun.
