Keeping Your Village Safe.

Sandy Mancini & myself at La Casa’s redHOT event, October 2018.

Today I was reflecting on La Casa de las Madres' redHOT fundraiser which I attended in October. I had the privilege of meeting Sandy Mancini—she is a true representation of La Casa’s work. Sandy is a survivor of Domestic Violence & a past recipient of La Casa’s services & support which came at a time when Domestic Violence overtook her family.

Today, Sandy is a thriving, independent woman with agency over her life. Her children are grown and thriving as well. Behind her, because of the care that La Casa provided, is her situation of emotional & physical abuse which once threatened to destabilize her and her children.

Supporting La Casa with even the smallest of donations, allows them to continue to create safety nets for families when the fear, or reality, of violence appears. Domestic Violence is a major cause of homelessness for women & families and results in a path of instability that can be nearly impossible for children to overcome.

I am forever grateful to my parents for reminding me that there was always space at our table for those in need, even when ours was already quite packed. This holiday, please find space at your ’table’, help your children to discover the power of Service & cast your gaze on those in our community with exceptional needs.

It does take a village and we are all better for it when we care for our own.

Donations to La Casa can be made here—https://lnkd.in/gENZTX7.

Happy Holidays.
