Branded Protest, the book

I am thrilled to have my photos from the Women’s March of 2018 included in ‘Branded Protest, the book’.

Jayna Zwelman, the woman behind the universally known Pussyhat Project, says it so succintly in her quote below. As a woman, mother and designer, I have felt the same desire to use my work & creativity to draw attention to the societal issues that touch us all.

I think design, and designers, have this incredible opportunity to help lead the way in social movements, and to really make a difference. And it’s so important to try to leave this world better than we’ve found it. I think it was successful because it comes from the heart. This is a project about everyone chipping in together, and it’s filled with so much love and love for other people. Everyone had something to give.
— Jayna Zweiman, co-creator and co-founder of the Pussyhat Project

Girls Up Front, the conversational capsule collection that I partnered to create was exactly that—a chance to use clothing, our cultural armor, to tell a story about girls ‘empowerment. Dressing young girls in powerful pussy prints & beyond, helps to remind them, and the world around them, of their strength.
Predators Not Prey, as we say.

I can’t wait to see the final version of Branded Protest, for now, enjoy these sneak peeks. In addition to the Women’s March, ‘Branded Protest, the book’ includes essays & imagery related to the following critical movements of our day.

  • Black Lives Matter

  • Yellow Umbrella Movement

  • Arab Spring

  • Je suis Charlie

  • Pussy Riot

  • Anonymous

  • Greenpeace

  • Amnesty

  • Peta
